Callipers

Callipers are a measuring device often found in metalworking, factories, mechanical engineering, and the automotive and aviation industries. They offer a high level of precision and accuracy when measuring an object’s length, width, depth and step. Callipers usually feature two sets of jaws, a blade at the tip for depth and a scale.

What Are the Different Types of Callipers?

Several different types are available, including digital callipers with an electronic display. Vernier callipers are an analogue tool named after the French mathematician who invented them, whilst modern digital callipers have an LCD display. Dial callipers have a circular measuring dial instead of a traditional scale.
