Carpenters' Squares

These simple, L-shaped measuring devices are classic carpentry tools designed at a right angle to mark 45° and 90° angles. They often come in a standard dimension of 24 x 16 inches, featuring two arms or blades made from aluminium or hardened steel. Some models have a wooden handle.

What Are Carpenters’ Squares Used For?

Also known as a framing square, one of the main uses of these helpful tools is to mark patterns in roofing, stairway, rafters and doors. From simple carpentry tasks to larger, more complex jobs, carpenters’ squares are an essential tool.

Toolstation stocks a selection of high-quality carpenters’ squares from leading brands. These include heavy gauge framing squares with metric and imperial units and traditional carpenters’ squares with stainless ruler blades and hardwood handles.
