Setting up your Hive V3 thermostat, receiver, and hub will give you complete control of your home's heating and energy consumption.

If you're setting up for the first time, this helpful guide will go through the steps on how to pair your hive thermostat to all the necessary devices so you can control the central heating in your home, wherever you are.

Essential Tools & Equipment

Before pairing your Hive V3 device, you'll need a battery for the thermostat, as well as a smartphone or tablet to connect to.

Step 1: Download the Hive App

  • Download the Hive app onto your chosen device, whether that's a mobile or tablet, and create an account.  You'll be prompted to activate your new Hive account.

Step 2: Pair the Hub

  • While in the app, select the option 'Hive Active Heating' and then tap on 'Hive Hub'.  Follow the instructions as provided.
  • An intermittent green light on the hub should start flashing.  That means it's updating, which should take around 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Once the hub has finished updating, return to your device and follow the remaining instructions to connect the hub.

Step 3: Turn on the Receiver

  • Now it's time to turn on the receiver and pop some batteries into the thermostat.

  • The thermostat should start to search for the receiver in order to connect.
  • At the same time an intermittent orange light will start to flash on the receiver box.

Step 4: Complete Pairing on the App

  • On the app, you should be prompted with further instructions.  Follow these to complete the pairing process.

  • A solid green status light on the receiver will signify a successful pairing.

Step 5: Check Everything Works

  • Test the system by adjusting temperatures via the app and the thermostat.

  • Confirm that the relay is activated and the system responds appropriately to your commands.
